Energy and Environmental Engineer

Lindbäcks is bucking the trend in a challenging Swedish construction market and is currently experiencing strong growth thanks to the rising demand for innovative and sustainable apartment buildings. With an industrial construction approach, a focus on the environment, and modern solutions, Lindbäcks demonstrates that it is possible to combine sustainability with profitability. At Lindbäcks, modern technology, innovative processes, and a strong sustainability profile are combined to build attractive wooden homes. Since its founding 100 years ago, innovation and development have been the company’s hallmark. The technical platform—the company’s building system—is both standardized and flexible: standardized to meet requirements and ensure efficient production, and flexible so that Lindbäcks can build what customers want with high utilization of building rights and excellent architecture.

Research and Development (R&D) owns the platform and works on the short- and long-term development of Lindbäck’s various building components and parts, while also managing both internal and external research and development projects. R&D also actively supports the organization in various technical areas. Lindbäcks is now making further investments to meet tomorrow’s challenges and achieve the company’s goal of becoming climate neutral by 2030 through an expansion of the company’s R&D department.

Lindbäcks is currently seeking an Energy and Environmental Engineer for its R&D department who is eager to help drive innovation and development in the construction industry.

About the job

As an Energy and Environmental Engineer, you will combine hands-on work—such as performing energy and climate calculations for client projects—with strategic responsibility for driving and developing energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives related to our product development.

This role requires a broad perspective as you support the entire process—from concept to finished product and operation—and ensure that energy and environmental considerations are taken into account throughout all phases—from market analysis to design, manufacturing, and construction, all the way through to project handover to the customer. You will also conduct in-depth technical analyses and propose improvements.

The role involves close collaboration with external partners such as industry associations, universities, and research institutes, as well as colleagues within Lindbäcks. You will lead development efforts and implement new sustainable energy solutions to further reduce our environmental impact and create an attractive product for our customers.

About you

We are looking for someone with a genuine commitment to energy and environmental issues who actively stays up to date on developments in the field. The role involves frequent interaction with both internal and external stakeholders, which makes your ability to build trusting relationships and collaborate effectively crucial.

You have the ability to see the big picture while also delving into the details when necessary. You work in a structured manner, take responsibility for your tasks, and ensure they are carried out successfully. You enjoy taking the initiative and are skilled at fostering engagement that helps drive projects forward. Experience in project management is a plus, but not required.

You have at least a bachelor’s degree in engineering and, preferably, several years of experience working in the energy and environmental sector, or equivalent expertise. The role requires a strong understanding of building technology, BBR, and energy and environmental issues. You have experience with energy calculation software (e.g., IDA ICE), climate calculations/LCA, and environmental certification systems such as Miljöbyggnad and Svanen. You are fluent in both spoken and written Swedish and English and hold a Class B driver’s license.

Lindbäcks is proud of its employees and offers a workplace characterized by dedication, professional growth, and teamwork. We look forward to welcoming you as part of the Lindbäcks family.
